I’ve started a new career in Spain with Sevilla. I’ve always been a fan of Spanish football — the tactical approach, the mentality, and the overall style really suit me. Sevilla feels like the perfect club for this journey.

I made a clear decision at the start: no transfers in the summer of 2025. I’m happy with the squad I already have, and there’s plenty of quality and potential here.

Odysseas Vlachodimos will be my number one in goal. On the left side of defense, Gabriel Suazo is my preferred option. In midfield, the experienced Nemanja Gudelj will partner up with the talented 23-year-old Lucien Agoumé in a defensive role. On the left wing, I’ve got the explosive and pacey Chidera Ejuke, while Isaac Romero will lead the line up front. I also have veterans like César Azpilicueta (35) and Alexis Sánchez (36), but they’ll mainly play a rotational role this season. I’m not setting any specific targets for the first season. My only expectation is that the team gives 100% in every match and pushes for the best possible results.

Tactically, I’m using a Gegenpress 4-2-3-1 system, which I’ve named “Fox Vision”. Hopefully, the players will quickly adapt to my ideas and execute them well on the pitch.

Pre-season is now behind us: 4 wins and 1 loss against Freiburg. I’m moderately satisfied — and now it’s time for the real challenge: the league.

I’m absolutely thrilled with our league form. A confident win over Villarreal was followed by a ruthless 6–0 away demolition of Elche. That performance was out of this world. Then came an unfortunate draw against Real Betis, but we quickly bounced back with a run of four consecutive victories. A standout moment was also our win against Real Madrid. In the Copa del Rey, Sevilla completely crushed Calatayud — no surprises there.

Our first league defeat finally came — a 2–1 loss to Getafe. Disappointing, but it had to happen at some point. The squad responded the right way, putting in the work and bouncing back immediately with an emphatic 4–1 win over Mallorca.

I’ve now gone through a crucial stretch of fixtures. A tough 0–2 away loss to a strong Barcelona, followed by a solid 2–0 home win against Atlético Madrid. In the Copa del Rey, we were knocked out after extra time by Real Zaragoza, so now all focus shifts to LaLiga. A convincing win over Espanyol came next, only to be followed by a 0–2 defeat against Real Madrid.

I also want to go back to the winter transfer window. I sold Federico Gattoni (DC) to Boca Juniors for €2.1 million. He was only a backup option, so it was a solid piece of business. On the other hand, I brought in several players on free transfers (with contracts expiring in six months): Keylor Navas (GK), Sergio Herrera (GK), the experienced Raheem Sterling (AM RL), Conor Chaplin (AMC), 33-year-old Kostas Fortounis (AM RLC, ST), Hidemasa Morita (DM, MC), Mika Marmol (D LC), and Carlos Martin (MR, AMR). I’m very satisfied with these moves.

One of the key matches was our 2–1 home win against Barcelona — there was nothing accidental about it. Sevilla posted an xG of 2.78, compared to Barcelona’s 1.23. We also secured a 2–2 away draw against Atlético Madrid and finished the run with a convincing 3–1 victory over Alavés.

Sevilla ended the season in 3rd place. I’m very pleased with that result and proud of my players’ performances throughout the campaign. Real Madrid won the title, while Real Oviedo, Mallorca, and Espanyol were relegated from LaLiga.

It’s time to begin the second season (2026/27).

We won all of our pre-season friendlies, although the opposition wasn’t particularly strong.

Unfortunately, we’ve had a poor start to the league campaign.

This is how my squad looks at the moment:

I’ve brought in several interesting and talented players on free transfers. I also have to keep in mind that we’re competing in the Champions League this season, which means there will be more rotation compared to last year.
